On this week, the Dillon Band Booster Club will host one of the largest events held in Dillon County. The Dillon Battle of The Bands is one of the most popular high school band competitions in the southeast. The competition averages about 20 high school bands and 2 collegiate bands per year.

This year, for the first time, the competition will host its first ever College Fair. Colleges in attendance include North Carolina A&T State University, South Carolina State University, Fayetteville State University, Northeastern Technical College, and Benedict College. We know that this portion of the competition is the start of something great.

Some of the competing bands include Wilson High School, Darlington High School, Manning High School, E. E. Smith High School and W. J. Keenan High School. The featured collegiate bands are the South Carolina State University Marching “101” Band, and the Benedict College “Band of Distinction.”
