o1LtgbqcSneV1fNAjPjkqwWe’d like to congratulate The Marching Cats for participating in the South Carolina Band Director Association’s (SCBDA) 2A Lower State Marching Band Championships. The event was hosted by White Knoll High School in Lexington, South Carolina on Saturday October 19, 2019. The Band earned a rating of Excellent. The Marching Cats ranked 10th out of fourteen bands. They needed to be in the top eight bands in order to move on to State Championship Finals, but missed the cut off by 6 points.
We would also like to congratulate our extended Dillon District Four Band Family,  the Marching Wild Gator Band from Lake View High School. They placed 5th in their class and will be competing next weekend for a state championship.

We are proud of what our students were able to accomplish. They are now poised to be eligible to earned the SCBDA Outstanding Performance Award (OPA), which is one of the highest awards given by the association. To earn this award, band programs must demonstrate outstanding achievement in Marching Band Festival, Concert Performance Assessment, Solo and Ensemble Festival, and Region/All-State Honor Band. The band program earned this award for the first time in school history in 2016. We aspire to achieve this success once again for the 2019-2020 school year. The marching band’s next and final competition of the season will be at Darlington High School on November 2, 2019.
